I have a 95 Geo tracker with a 1.6ltr, 16 valve engine. I'm having trouble getting the timing setup right. When installing the camshaft gear it has 2 key slots for the camshaft pen one is marked I the other E. If I is the timing mark on the gear would I be the pen slot for the cam?

First set the cylinder in the very back by the fire wall to tdc on 95 and up 16 v engines . Use the key slot marked e to bolt to cam .then position the e mark on the gear pointing straight up as pictured .there is also a mark on valve cover to line it up with .put on your timing belt then line up your distributor rotor to where it is pointing to that back cylinder spark plug wire terminal inside the cap ,you might have to slide the entire distributor out turn the gear and push it back in a couple time to get it right .
