check engine light on but goes out when you turn on the lights

check engine light on until i turn the headlight switch on then the light goes out car is
running fine, doesnt throw any codes

If the check engine light is on there's a code stored in the computer. Have it scanned at your local auto parts store. Most will do it for free. One other possibly is a short in the printed circuit on the back of the instrument cluster. HTH. - Jim
