Why isnt my right signal working?

Asked by Ggblazer Aug 05, 2020 at 01:19 PM about the 1991 Chevrolet S-10 Blazer 2 Dr Tahoe SUV

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

So, with the lights off, I have all my left signals.
Both in the front and the rear. However, I had no
right lights with the lights off so i replaced my
relay. I now have signals for my left and right with
the lights off. However, when I turn the lights on,
my arrow on my dash comes on and stays on
resulting in my right signal to come on and stay on.
No blinking, flashing, just on. When i turn my right
signal on, my right signals shut off including the
arrow. No flashing or blinking. Just nothing. What
is wrong here? I really need to have my right signal
with lights on because i get off from work when its
dark.

Usually if weird electricals, You have a problem with a ground. I looked a wiring diagram for front right tyrn signal. at the electrical connector, three wires, black which is ground, brown which should be voltage for park lamp, blue which should be voltage for right hand turn signal Take connector loose, use both ends of test light between blue and black wire. key on right turn signal on, the test light should flash like a turn signal. If not, use chassis ground, clean metal spot instead of black wire, if the lite starts pulsing, you have a bad ground. you could use jumper wire from black wire to chassis ground, to see if ground is the problem. You may need to check headlamp grounds, also. right now, I think you have a ground problem, somewhere. I admit after reading your post I started getting confused, trying to follow everything you were saying.

That's kind of what I was thinking. I worked with it a little and it's getting better. With the lights off, I have both right and left signals. With the lights on, I have my left signal, but when the lights are on now, my arrow is on, but I have no lights. Then, when I turn my right signal on, my right signal comes on but wont flash. Im guessing it's bit grounding out? Could there be another blinker relay I don't know about?

I figures out my problem, It had a 224 2 prong signal relay in it which had troubles before it was parked. My blazer also has a trailer plug which means between it and the signals, the 224 doesn't have the power or circuits to run the signals. I need to replace it with a 552 2 prong and everything should work. Thanks for the help! P.s. Here is what's under the hood

My signal flasher handles up to 6 lights. My blazer has 4 in the front(2 on each side) 2 in the back(1 on each side) and 2 on the trailer plug. This is the 224 plug. I need the 552 which handles up to 10 lights since I am running 8
