Non starting 1997 Geo Tracker

I parked and when I came out and turned ignition switch on first click the dash
lights lit up , but when I turned the ignition on the dash lights go out and
stayed out when switch turned to start . Battery is at 12.47 volts (cleaned
cables , checked all fuses . Tried wiggling shifter (automatic) . Suggestions ?
Where is the common wiring problems from ignition switch ?

check your electrical part of your ignition switch.

Everything checked out . Replaced negative ground cable end . No life at starter . Pulled it out (what a pain) . Took it down for core charge and tested it there , worked like a champ . Took new starter home . It was the battery end of positive battery cable . It looked good and had enough flow to run everything but the starter . BTW , the easiest way to get to the upper , inside bolt ( with a nit on back ) was to remove the motor mount . Someone had installed the ground cable on the upper bolt which made getting a wrench on it impossible .
