1983 ford ranger 2.8L v6
I was going home from work my truck was
running just fine and everything els I
stopped at store to get a drink came back
out and the truck would only turn over but
wouldn't start I pulled one of the plugs and
checked for spark and there was no spark
at all so I replace coil pack and checked
my points and i still get nothing what could
my problem do
An 83 should not have points and condenser, it should be solid state, if it has been modified and you have power to the coil then check for broken wiring to the distributor from the coils negative terminal, if that checks good then replace the points and condenser, however if this is stock and you have solid state ignition and the wiring is good replace the ignition module and if it has never been done the distributor pickup coil.
Agree with tennishoes, as a former owner of a 1984 Ranger 2.8 4x4 I can tell you either the ignition module or the ignition switch are the likely failure points. Other issues can also lead to a no spark condition.
