My 89 f250 will go in gear but when i try to move past 2g rpms it slips, what could it be?
Try this: start driving like you normally do when you hit about 20MPH put it in 4 gear and try to open it up, if the engine RPM's climb quickly then the clutch is slipping and won't last long, it could be something other than the clutch disc but it is also a related item that you will be replacing when you do a clutch kit, and if it is slipping like that you should get the flywheel turned while you there and if you engine has a one piece rear main seal replace it while the flywheel is getting turned. HTH
sounds like its time for a new clutch.
