1989 Ford F150 5.0 V8
Where is my inertia switch for the fuel
pump? The shop told me it is by the parking
brake. I spent 2 hours trying to find it and
never did. I replaced my fuel filter and it ran
for a day then started stalling out and not
Is it the black box back there? I cant find mine but I'll try again tomorrow.
Yep that is it.
Thank you! To the best of your knowledge incase i don't fond it there is there any possiblity it could have been rewired somewhere else?
If it is an 89 that is where it should be, of course someone could have just wired it direct and done away with the switch. Other years had them on the passenger side behind the kick panel and next to the transmission hump up high really close to the heater box. HTH
Okay thank you! I hope thats my problem.
That was not my problem. Replaced spark plugs and distributor cap. Still is not startong someone please help!
OK now first to have to find out if it is fuel or spark, Spray some starting fluid in the intake while it is being cranked over, if it fires and runs briefly it is fuel if not it is spark. Let us know what it does and then we can go from there.
Its fuel injected how would you do it?
Just spray some in the intake tube.
Okay. Once i do that if it does start is there anyway to know which pump it is?
The in frame pump either works or it don't, I have never had one intermittent unless it was a connection problem, the smaller pumps in the tank are just lift pumps and to check them you will have to disconnect the lines at the selector valve and test them separately.
It is the pump in the tank i am told. Can you post a pic of what it looks like bc the auto parts store has two different ones?
