my 1988 f150 has a hard time starting and staying running
Could be fuel pump, easy way to tell if you spray starter fluid in the intake as you start it and spray it as it runs. if it does its possible the fuel pump does not have enough pressure, you could also get a gauge and attached it to the fuel rail to see what pressure its reading..
Check air filter and clean throttle body add Lucas Fuel Injector cleaner to gas tank.
You may want to clean the throttle body...https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BXwqBf4cqic
