My step son's 86 Ford F-150 wont start. What could it be?

Asked by May 31, 2015 at 10:57 PM about the 1986 Ford F-150 STD Standard Cab 4WD LB

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

I have plenty of fire at the  coil, at the distributor, and the plugs. Have fuel reaching the spark plugs and can see trace amounts of gas on them when pulled. Motor turns over just fine.  Just won't start. Even with ether sprayed into intake makes absolutely no difference.

Did anyone touch the timing?

Yeah the timing is dead on. Im kinda wondering about lack of compression?

Hello, Indeed, if you have spark all the way to the plugs...not much left. Run a compression test on 1 cylinder (Ford #1 is front right)...no compression...timing chain gone. If compression, exhaust completely restricted; ie, Cat time. There are a few other things, but that ether deal tell me much. Good Luck, AskTrannyMan
