Truck is idling really high, 1500-2500 rpm, and when i shut it off, it sometimes tries to stay running, what is the problem?
1986 ford f150, with the 300 six cylinder, today it started idling really high after i brought it
home from work,so i looked at the carb And thought i might be able to figure it out, no
luck. After a couple times of turning it off and on, the damn thing tried to catch itself with
the IGNITION OFF, i got no clue where to go, what to do or who to ask, i need any advice
you got for me, THANKS!
"Where to go" is to a good mechanic- that is a simple machine, and it should be easy to figure it out- if it just started with the high idle, check your accelerator linkage all the way from the pedal to the carb- maybe some piece of linkage got tweaked- if you want to fix your own truck, you will need vision and perseverance- and a shop manual and some tools-
Look around the carb, make sure all little vacuum hoses are connected- check that your choke is not stickin'
