Oil pressure low after oil change dont know why?
1993 eagle talon car hadnt been run for two years. When i bought it it burned oil bad changed the oil then ran it and the oil pressure was low any ideas?
If this is the first oil change you've done since owning it, it's possible that the previous owner put some kind of stuff in the oil to thicken it up and hide the oil pressure problem in order to sell it. If it was burning oil to begin with the engine is in poor condition. It's most likely the bearings are worn. HTH. -Jim
Well i payed 900 for it would it be worth trying to get it fixed and it runs good the inky problem beside oil pressure is it idles low
And the guy i bought it from only had it for a week then the windshield busted but he said the previous owner didnt run it for 2 years
The fact that it idles low is definitely a factor in this. If the idle speed is too low and the oil pressure is low only at idle it could be the low idle causing the oil pressure problem. If it's an automatic transmission it should idle around 650 RPMs in drive with the engine fully warmed up. If it's a stick shift it should be at about 900 RPMs in neutral with the engine fully warmed up. What I'd suggest is adding a product like STP Stop Smoke to the oil. It thickens up the oil to stop the oil from passing by worn piston rings and will help boost your oil pressure as well. By doing that you can at least get your $900 out of the car. Then move on to something better. HTH. -Jim
well when we bought it it idle at around 1500 but right now itll idle around 900-1000
