How do i replace the ignition lock cylinder on a 1988 gmc sierra c1500 350 v8 with tilt steering.

Today i went to start the truck and something in the ignition popped and now
when you turn the key nothing happens it moves through the positions but
then it doesnt do anything. How hard is it to replace.

it shouldn't be that hard , generally you would disconnect batt. turn key to run and there should be a pin under the column(or somewhere) that you depress and the cylinder comes out , it works like a rack and pinion , if you look in the cavity you'll see the rack that operates the switch and the cam on the lock have to match up , it's all in the detail , a pro lock smith can save you some $$ instead of the dealer , check you tube for any videos
