1988 gmc 1500

Hi everyone I have a 1988 gmc parked for about 7
years I changed the fuel pump and filter cleaned
the fuel injectors and got it running in park it runs
perfect but when I'm driving it and give gas it dies
out however I can drive it slow and she purse like a
kitten any ideas?

Might want to pull the codes, see if anything shows, have you checked the fuel pressure regulator? Crud can build up in those too if it sets. You also might consider running a good fuel system cleaner through it, something like SeaFoam.

I put seafoam it mad it worst lol

Did not check the pressure I don't really have the tools

I'm a single dad trying to save some money


Have you tried blocking off the fuel return line and see if it pulls better? Something else you can try is to take the regulator apart, and clean it, if your careful and don't damage the diaphram, I believe that you can still purchase an overhaul kit for the pressure regulator if it is too bad. You may want to remove the injectors and clean the screens there too, just make sure to remove the o-rings so they aren't damaged by the cleaner. HTH
