Question type: Maintenance & Repair

When accelerating, there's a fluttering noise,
similar to what a diesel sounds like. Lifters, bearing
pack?  No good ideas

How about a thrown rod in the engine.

If it a pre ignition sound, try disconnecting the spout connector and see if it goes away or is a lot less, if that proves out then check the base timing, it maybe advanced too far, if the timing is right on then I suspect that the ECM is over advancing the spark while running and will have to be replaced. Truck runs good, no constant chattering, only on acceleration, and not consistently. Very mild diesel-powered noise
