Question type: Maintenance & Repair

2013 Kia Optima Hybrid.  Got 38-40 city/ 40-42 highway until engine was
recalled last March at 55,000 miles. New short block and remanufactured
cylinder head. 23 city/28 highway.  KIA Customer Service says not a problem.
Is it time to file for arbitration? And has anybody had arbitration experiences?

You're absolutely right . Mine went out too. Kendall Kia Service in Nampa told me that this is the first time they seen this happen . Their quote to replace the engine was $10,034. At 107,000 miles I'm changing the engine .... First time, I had to change an engine for car with those miles . I'm a dealer and owned over 100 cars in my life and this is my personal car. Loved the car at first but after this I will never recommend a Kia to no one . The whole brand is flawed no matter what anyone says .

Kia replaced the seized engine in my 2011 optima hybrid last year under a recall. There was a class action lawsuit over Kia engines seizing. Kia agreed to replace the defective engines at their expense, (recall). Many dealers fight like mad to keep from doing this. It's the nature of stealerships, er, dealerships. Data collected by the nonprofit Center for Auto Safety show 31 U.S. fire and engine- related recalls from Hyundai and Kia since 2015.Many models and model years are involved.- US News & World Report Though I love my Kia, they are not the most reliable cars out there.
