hey there im a proud owner of a 2013Nissan frontier with 12,000 miles , recently ive noticed that when I stop at a light my trucks idle runs a little rough,, i had installed a k&n oiled air filter about 5 months ago.., when i took it to the dealer without ever knowing at the time the mechanic told me to get rid of that filter,it might have had an affect on the mass air flow sensor,. so i trashes that filter,, and installed a Nissan filter on the spot,,, but didn't seem to fix the problem,, curiosly one day i took out this cassete like looking part that's installed on the air tube just outside the air box.. lol never seen anything like that, i have no idea what it is so i put it back.. i was just wondering if i need to buy a can of air flow cleaner and spray the mass air flow sensor?.. any tips ? thanks for taking your time to read this...
Yes, buy some CRC MAF cleaner and clean the Mass Air Flow sensor as per the instructions on the can......https://www.youtube.com/watch? v=_TO7ZC5N-aA......extra oil on the elements will cause idle issues.
I have a 2011 Nissan frontier with the 4.0 L motor. It has had a rough idle and a always on engine light ever since it was new. Dealer told me that it was not fixable and that I need to put up with it. Last week I decided to try adding a ground from the battery ground terminal to the engine block at a place where the wiring harness has many grounds attached. Now it's two days latter and the idle has improved and the engine light has stayed off. it seems to have fixed the problem. In general Nissan sensors and their OEM parts are of very good quality and usually last the life of the vehicle without much problems. They won't work properly if they don't have a good return path to ground. Shame on Nissan for not fixing this problem which they must have known about but didn't want to spend any $$$ to fix. This problem has annoyed me for over 6 years but now it is now fixed just in time so I can sell it and buy a new Toyota truck.
