How much can my Dad expect for his Mint 1983 Mazda RX7 GSL, 21,000 miles?

Question type: Shopping & Pricing

Hi, My Dad is retired and starts the car once or twice a year, it has only 21,000 miles. It
has always been garage kept and looks perfect. Color is Mia gold. He is thinking crazy
prices and I want to give him something alittle more assurance to the cars true value.

An 83 isn't considered a classic yet, so don't expect anything more than book value if it is in the shape you say it is. Rotaries don't do well setting as the seals can bond to the housings, especially on this style of engine. I sold my last RX7 that was an 83 for 5000 bucks and it was in excellent condition with a modified engine but it was not a GSL. I have seen a few GSL's go for around 15000 bucks but they were like showroom quality and 1 had even won some awards. So the they start at 3000 and go to 15000 in my area.

I agree, NADA list it at $6200 high retail. Your dad is selling privately. Since it;s so nice $5K max to the right guy, figure $4K realistic.
