Engine won't start - Immobilizer on?

Asked by Feb 09, 2014 at 01:14 PM about the 2013 Honda Civic EX w/ Navigation

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

My new 2013 Civic EX won't start and I'm very confused. I used the spare set of keys (given by dealer master + valet) and now it won't start. Had to leave it in a parking lot last night. Seems the anti-theft immobilizer has been activated. Is there anything I can do other than towing to the dealer?

Try locking it then unlocking it with the key fob. Then try starting it with the master key. The computer should recognize the key fob and disable the security system so you can start/drive it. If that doesn't work I'd call the dealer and have them walk you through the correct procedure over the phone. HTH. -Jim
