Can anyone identify the round filler cap?

Asked by Jun 30, 2014 at 03:11 PM about the 1983 Volkswagen Vanagon Camper Passenger Van

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

I just put oil where I thought it went but then found the right place. Where did I put the oil
and how bad did I mess my van up?

The large round cap is below "3" and to the right of the "1" and "2" in this picture.
Thanks for any help.

I think that was your power steering pump, you need to remove oil from it,it can mess your pump up,and rack pionion and or gear box.
