gas gauge shows low fuel when gas tank has been filled

my gas gauge is digital and it goes from 11 to E in a second, also can go up or down with the reading depending on which way the car is leaning. That aside - it's just a float in the tank that moves up and down and transfers where it's at to the dashboard. If your's is digital and lit up then it's the sensor in the tank or the connection between there and the dash. If it's a dial and it's right on E give it a tap (ever see the movie The China Syndrome?)

If you can't fix it easily, remember - it's only a convenience, it's not an essential.

A gas gauge that always reads empty is a bad ground. Check the wiring back by the sending unit at the gas tank. Unless, of course, you've recently had the instrument cluster apart. Then check there first for a ground strap not being hooked back up. HTH. -Jim

not always ,but sometimes, I did say wire from tank to guage was a possibility.
