Asked by TonysZ28 about a second ago about the 1981 Chevrolet Camaro Z28 Question type: Maintenance & Repair Where can I find a diagram of all the vacuum hoses for my 1981 camaro z28 350 engin the car idels ok in park . but if I put the car in reverse or in drive with the ac on it stalls. I think it may be a vacuum hose but not sure . Any help would be grateful.
There's an idle speed up solenoid at the carburetor. When you switch on the A/C the solenoid is energized and speeds up the idle to compensate for the added load of the A/C compressor. HTH. -Jim
Thanks I will look into that and see If it works does it work the same way when I put it in reverse
Yes, when you select any of the A/C settings on the dash control panel the solenoid is energized. It is also energized when defrost is selected. No matter what gear you're in. It's a single, usually green, wire that plugs into the solenoid. HTH. -Jim
the car also stalls when the ac is off and i put it into reverse.the car usually needs to warm up for about 5 minutes then she idles .but if i put it into reverse she goes to stall . what is the proper rpm when the car is idling. 350 v8
In drive, fully warmed up, with the A/C off, and the vacuum advance hose, at the distributor, disconnected and plugged, the idle speed should be 650 RPMs. Now if this is only a cold issue the fast idle setting and automatic choke may nneed attention as well. HTH. -Jim
