How do I replace the turn signal lever broken off a 1987 Cavalier RS convertible/

Asked by Mar 23, 2016 at 05:25 AM about the 1987 Chevrolet Cavalier RS Convertible FWD

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

Turn signal (high/low beams too?) is broken off at the steering column on my '87 RS convertible.  I can see no way to get to it or remove/replace the base of the stalk that remains.  Anyone know how to do this?  Or where to find the unit?

You probably have to remove some panels around the steering wheels to access. Looks like it slides into an assembly that needs a pin or screw loosed to remove. Online price for the assembly is around $50.
