Brake lights

Asked by Jun 19, 2016 at 03:53 AM about the 1985 Chevrolet Caprice Classic

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

Tail lights work, turn signals work brake
lights do not work. Replaced brake pedal
switch. Still not working.

1 Answer

Took the tail light panel off to check the sockets and lights and the sockets that house the brake lights seem to be missing a wire and a metal prong inside. The sockets that house the turn signals all have double bulbs and two metal prongs but the brake lights only have one prong off to the side, a void spot full of glue for the other, and the bulbs that fit in it are even double bulbs not to mention it looks as if another wire is supposed to fit into the socket.
