How to the lower attachment of the front wheel bearing knuckle.The strut and steering attachment are off but the lower one is not separateing even with the screw off.It is a 2003 ford focus.

Trying to replace Front wheel bearing to get rid of annoying rumble on ford focus 2003.

You need to re attach it to the strut which I assume is still connected to the car via the strut tops? this will allow you to shock the lower ball joint with a hammer to get it to move ( note: hit the wheel bearing carrier where the bolt goes through)

Thanks for the reply to remove the lower ball joint.I managed to swivel the knuckle and press in the bearing.I will try that advice on the other side .On this first side it was not necessary.By the way the rumble as if you are driving with knobby tires did not go away with one new bearing.
