I put new brakes on the front of my 1989
Volvo 740 GL however it is still squealing as
if the brakes were no good could it be I put
the wrong type of brake on them I'm leaving
here at 2 different times

I'm sorry that should say I am now learning that there are two different types of brakes


Volvos are know for squealing brakes, even with factory parts, about the only thing that helps is some disc brake anti squeal, put it on the pads backing plate and install it and then let it set up and it greatly reduces the noise. You can also try increasing the camfer on both leading and trailing edges of the pads.


There are more than just two, organics, semimetalic, full metallic and now ceramic.
