How safe and reliable and cost

Asked by Oct 14, 2013 at 06:56 PM about the 1982 Volvo 240 DL

Question type: General

My husband just bought a 82 Volvo 240. He bought it instead of a 97 Corolla. We were looking for a safe reliable car for our new born. Now it needs the fuel pumps changed. Is $600 a fair price for that. Also can anyway smooth my nerves as far as this being a good car for a child.
Thank you!

$350-$525 for the fuel pump, get some more estimates. As long as you use a good car seat properly secured in the back seat, your child should be fine.

Volvo's have a very good safety record and have had for generations, so safety should not be a concern. As Tom stated get more estimates that seems too high. Was that a dealer estimate? If it was try an independent shop for a few estimates.
