Ford Escape transmission question

Asked by Mar 08, 2014 at 11:42 AM about the 2003 Ford Escape XLT 4WD

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

My 2003 Ford Escape is very sluggish (upshifts but little increase in speed when trying to pass).  And when it's put in Drive, the position indicator on the dash shows that it's also in 1st and 2nd gear.

I'm about to do a transmission fluid/filter change.  Will a new Turbine Shaft Speed sensor fix the first problem and/or the second one?

FYI: In the Escapes transmission or (CD4E) you can drain or flush the fluid, but the filter is inside the trans and only replaceable during a rebuild or disassembly. Not sure what is going on with your position indicator.
