I have a 1987 Ford Thunderbird but it turns off when i am coming to a stop what would cause that?

I have a 1987 Ford Thunderbird and not all the time but sometimes my engine cut's off as
I'm driving the the car. What could cause this?

Needs a tuneup, clean the throttle body and IAC, vacuum leak, etc. Scan for codes too.

Could be electrical or fuel. Code scan may be fastest way to isolate the problem. Most National Parts stores will do a free code scan for you. ie; Auto Zone, O'Reilies, Advance, etc.

My 96 Ford Thunderbird will not engage any gear including neutral no matter where the shifter is. It is stuck in park. I was wondering what are the problems that could cause this? If I start it, and hold the gas for a few minutes once it turns over, it stays running. But if it sits for a few hours, I have the same problem again. Any ideas?

I have a 97 Thunderbird, When I turn on the car it will turn and there seems to be a screeching sound. And then it won't turn on. However it will turn on after I turn the key 2-4 times. Once it's on it runs awesome, it's just the start up that sounds bad. The starter has already been replaced so I don't think that's the problem, but again I'm not a mechanic so I can't say for sure. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated. 2 answers
