where is inertia switch on 81 ford thunderbird

In trunk, passenger side behind the trunk support column, there will be a hole about an inch in diameter, put finger in hole you should be able to feel the switch and push down if it was blown you will hear a slight click.

This feels just like a circuit breaker on a GFI outlet when you push it in. It will be the same type of "click" if it is the problem.
