Oil light on and off in my 2003 ford escape. Started after installing new battery. When at stop light car idling light comes on. Turns off when I accelerate.

Is it the red oil light and not the check engine light? Did you check your oil level, it might be low, or the oil pressure sending unit needs to be replaced.
