i have a 89 prelude 2.0 si i bought a new battery and a new alternator it will run as long as its on a jump from another vehicle but other than that it will run for 2 minutes and shut off with the battery completely drained

....yes without proper ground (1/0 battery cable) from the battery to the chassis ground...this one will be full of corrosion by now...take the bolt off, wirebrush the lug....wirebrush the chassis to assure 300 cold cranking amps...your alternator is "cookin' itself" without a proper ground connection...the battery is OLD because they only last about five years without any LEAD in that anymore (me own Father's doing)~.....so in summation, scrub the connection clean [high amps blue spark semi- conductor}....get a NEW battery....smile, it could be worse~
