I have a 2003 Ford Escape the front brakes just started sticking the calipers move in and out freely I change the brake pads but it still gets hot enough to burn the pads

Rubber brake lines going to calipers are bad or caliper guide pins are seized up.

I would replace both calipers and hoses, that would cover all possible problems. You might as well do pads and rotors and have a vehicle you can trust for at least 50K miles.
if calipers move freely on their own, ie return to release position after let up on brake pedal, make sure changed pins and greased pins, bleed brake lines, check fluid level, check everything lined up properly, no movement on alignment caliper and rotor, if major scoring replace both rotors
