What vehicle info can I get through my 2013 Highlander usb port? And how?

Question type: General

I want to get info on the outside air temp (its appears on the dash) and info when windshield wipers are on.  OBD port has engine info, but I want it through the USB port. ANd, you cannot get the outside air temp through the OBD?    Any help appreciated.

You can get outside air temp through OBD (well actually CAN-bus), but you would need to write your own software to get at it though as it is not a standard parameter for normal diagnostic software. As for getting over USB, that is a totally different kettle of fish, onboard USB is normally only for the audio system and is kept well away from CAN to prevent signal corruption on the CAN-bus which can seriously mess up the car.
