My 88 bronco was driving fine yesterday and today it is only going into reverse it will not engage into neutral or drive the shifter feels as if it's hitting something and it's not allowing full moven

it could be the linkage (easy) or the tranny (problemo)- I love it when people say "it was fine yesterday"- it's like a guy who just died complaining: "but I was alive yesterday!"
