Is a 2013 Buick Regal ok to tow a utility trailer?
the manual says ... not intended for towing. The dealer says will void warranty
... yet knowledgeable people are telling me it will not be a problem. So can it
be a problem or am I safe to install a hitch? Max load = 650 lbs
If you are going to void your warranty and the manual says no, then don't do it. The cost to repair cars today is astronomical. Then why would you want to push your luck on a car you spent so much money on..doesn't make sense to me...
It's not just the weight of the trailer, but, the tongue weight. The tongue weight is the maximum amount of weight you can have where your vehicle actually is attached to your trailer at a hitch. You're playing around with fire here and you could injure yourself along with ruining your car. Go out and rent a truck.. Money well spent.
Who are these knowledgeable people you're talking about? Hopefully, you'll pay attention to my last answer, I actually have a trailer. If you're thinking of putting a receiver on the back of your car for a bicycle rack, fine, but, that's all.
