87 Nissian pickup won't start

Some times the starter will click an sometimes there is nothing

Maybe a bad starter solenoid but first clean the battery terminals and cable ends. Tighten up the cable clamps good too.

Your battery may be weak so try charging it or have it tested at an auto parts store.

If cleaning the battery connections does not help then it probably is the starter.

That's kinda what I was thinking an a whole new starter with sylnoid is cheep ear than just the sylnoid do you think maybe the relay could be bad

You can have the starter tested at most auto parts stores. If you buy a rebuilt starter look for a good quality one where they replace everything. Skip the Pep Boys junk even if they warranty it.
