Question type: Maintenance & Repair

I have a 1985.5 Nissan 720 pickup with a small leak on the left side of the differential.  Any
idea what this may indicate as a potential problem?  My truck has 268k miles.

Probably a weeping seal or gasket. If you plan on keeping hte truck, plan on replacing at and the fluid at some point. You don't want to run the diff. with low or no fluid.

Thanks, I do plan on keeping the truck so I'll have that done.

To update this, my rear differential doesn't have seals but there is a small crack in the left axle casing. I can get this fixed with a small external weld is what I'm being told.
