i have a 1983 toyota corolla station wagon with automatic 1.6 engine and i was wondering what other engine from a later year toyota can I use to replace my original 83 engine. In other words what engines are out there compatible with that vehicle. (with out loosing AC)
1983 was the first year the 1.6 FE engine was introduced, used through that generation up to and including 1987. In 1998 an entire new engine family, the ZZ was introduced. Bottom line, rdhautogallery up there and I agree Except I am sure that is a typo, they didn't make the FE in 1093 It came a few years later. Hey, all in fun fellas!
The 4A engine series was a 1587 cc (1.6 liter) engine, introduced in 1988, and revised to 4A-FE in 1993. Its primary use was in the Corolla. The 7A engine series was essentially the same engine, stroked for higher displacement (1.8 liters) and better torque. 1997 was the engine's last year: in 1998, it was replaced by the ZZ series. The torque curve was fairly flat, with a steep, linear horsepower curve....That is Copied and.Pasted from "Corollaland, com" it's a good website with lots of information
