used camry 89 new starter but needs to be hit why

first thing to do is check/alignment...!!!!


I suspect the solenoid is sticking. A lot of rebuilt starters are not good as they don't replace all the parts when fixing them.

thats ture but i read a new starter...if rebuilt try and loosen up the solenoid two turns and try it again and retighten...then check alignment on both..also check the nose and flywheel....

IF you conclude you must remove this starter might consider BENCH TESTING its functionality by hooking up battery cables and using a "remote starter test switch" to see if the solenoid functions and engages the pinion gear properly.
