how hard is cruise control to install on 2014 chevy cruze?
I purchased a 2013 chevy cruze and stupid me didnt even think to see if it had cruise control. (didnt know that wasnt an option on a car these days) Any idea how hard this is to instal and how to do it?
I have been through that question on Toyotas, the new Corollas don't even have cruise control, and lots of people did the same things as you...don't feel alone. Plenty of pissed off buyers. Now I am not a GM guy, but after many discussions about this on a Toyota forum, it is almost impossible and very VERY expensive, I am talking $3,000. Again, not knowing near as much about Chevy Cruze, I don't know if the same applies but I think it does. On a Corolla you have to change the ECU, change entire steering column, different throttle body and so much more
Yes this can be added for about $500 from the dealer. give your local dealer a call. They have to order the part and then program the car.
I'm employed as an engineer doing automotive electronics. Actual cost of electronics and wiring for cruise control is about $5.00, estimated mfg. cost. My guess is GM is using this scheme to get buyers to move up to more costly trim options. I'd also consider a base Cruze if it has cruise control.
To purchase a kit online to make the change is around $300. If you're handy mechanically, you can do this. If not, the dealer is the way to go.
I would not go aftermarket but with factory parts.
