I have a 1997 Dodge Dakota V6 3.9 new battery and starter wont crank or start
lights on inside and dash nice and bright and headlights that will blind yopu but irt still will not crank or start.
There is a resistor normally some where on the fire wall that burns out. Common problem. It is a white rectangle porcelain block with a wire on each end. I believe this year still has it.
Check the solenoid on the starter also, It may be bad and also check the ignition switch. You can check this by turning on the key to the on position and shorting the solenoid wire to the battery wire on the starter. Remove the coil pack wire first so the car won't start first time. If it turns over then you know the answer.
