1997 Dodge Avenger ES coupe 2.5l v6

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

Ok I own a 97 Dodge Avenger Es coupe
with a 2.5l v6 Automatic trans 164k miles
I just bought it and replaced the catalytic
converter because I realized it was
overheating at low rpms I got it checked
and it was half way clogged up so I
replaced it with new one. Ok so still over
heats at low rpm. So I replaced the
thermostat next which was burnt up and
sealed shut car seams a lot better no.
Check engine lights on, but still over heats
at low rpms. What should I do next???
This is one of 2 of my vehicles and I really
need to get it under control if you throw the
car into neutral and rev it to a higher rpm
for a quick second then it will go rite back
to normal temperature

Check water flow after it reaches running temperature, sounds like the water pump is going bad

Thermostat burned up and sealed up sounds like another owner used a head gasket repair in a bottle from auto store in it, if so its a head gasket issue.
