What metal is the trim around the windows on drivers and passengers sides...stainless steel, anodized aluminum, chrome plated aluminum...?
The 'chrome' trim around the windows on the drivers side and passenger side
are looking milky color and spotted. No one seems to be able to tell me how to
make it look new like the rest of the trim on the car. Is it polished stainless
steel, polished aluminum, anodized aluminum, chrome plated aluminum,
chrome played steel?
You're probably still under the 3 year or 36,000 mile bumper to bumper warranty with this. I'd talk to your local Buick Dealer about a free replacement. HTH. -Jim
I am still under warranty. I have taken to the dealer, and the service mgr says it is due to environmental damage. I have gotten Buick customer service involved and when they could not get anything done, I contacted GM customer service. They keep trying to tell me it's not because it's defective but environmental. I have done some research, and if it is anodized alum,inure I was told that it would have to be de-anodozied and then re-anodized. It would cost less and less labor to just replace the trim, but they don't want to seem to stand behind their product. I was hoping to find someone else with the same problem and howe they got it resolved. After all, if it's environmental, Buick must have thousands of complaints about this, because it would not just affect my car trim but everyones. Anything you can tell me JIM to give me some arsenal to go back to them to get them to see that it's because it was not anodized properly or the anodizing is not holding. Any help you can offer is greatly appreciated. Kevin
I see. It definitely sounds like you've covered all the bases with GM. I'd suggest at this point contacting your local Office of Consumer Affairs. They'll open a case and investigate this. If they feel GM is wrong they'll proceed with a court case if GM remains uncooperative. Since this is not a safety issue I doubt contacting the National Highway Safety Administration would do any good. But they may be able to provide you with more options for action on this.
