Having random issues need ideas.

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

So my wife has a 2013 nissan rouge 114k miles.
All in all it rides and shifts just fine. There have
been random instances where every few days give
or take, we would let off the gas pedal to stop or let
the car slow down. From here the car will randomly
have absolutely no response from the gas pedal,
this last a few seconds and drives fine.  There are
no codes on the dash and other wise operates as it
has since we got it. So far I've only tried to clean
the corrosion off the battery terminals and replace
the air filter. I feel like I'm chasing a ghost here. Any
ideas?

Scan for codes even if the light ain't on , the clerk at auto zoo is not a technician . These types of problems can be difficult because it has to be diagnosed when it occurs , all other times things are normal . Too many computers that are not necessary

Sounds like a glitch in the TPS, these do tend to wear over time. I suggest you have it live data scanned, the tech can see in real time just what the sensors are sending to the computer and the computer’s response to those readings. Then they can recommend the necessary repairs.

I replaced the battery about 2 or 3 months ago. I have a friend that has a good scanner so I'm gonna start there then move onto the tps system.

Ok an update on this. After cleaning the battery terminals and replacing the air filter it did it again. So I put a scanner on it with live data and nothing, I then cleaned the maf sensor and throttle body. After test driving with no issues I went home. When I got home and got out of the car I notices my brake lights where still on. So now I'm leaning towards a break relay sticking. I ran across a YouTube video of this same scenario. I'm gonna wait till the weekend see if the vehicle acts uo after cleaning and then try the relay.

I have 2010 Nissan Rogue was doing same thing, no acceleration after stopping at red light, I performed the following and never had a problem with the vehicle since, 1. ECU Accelerator Pedal Reset Procedure, 2. Accelerator Pedal Release Position Learning Procedure, 3. Throttle Valve Closed Position Learning Procedure, 4. Idle Air Volume Learning (Throttle Position Learning). Hope it will fix your problem too, can be performed by yourself if you have the procedure, just a matter of turning the ignition key at the right time and pressing the gas pedal at the right time. You can find online.

Hi, try cleaning your throttle body and sensor and do the reset mentioned above.

Thanks for your comments. Looks like I have isolated the problem and it appears to be TPS. I tried many garages/dealers and would say they had no clue about the issue. I noticed an anomaly with Idle rpm whenever started anew. It clocks with 1500 rpm even when the engine is hot it is 90 F outside. After 2-3 minutes drops to about 700 rpm. The car runs perfectly, with no issue. But if I drive it without any wait, it goes into a limp move. After some wait time, it starts to move sluggishly with poor acceleration as if it is, pulling a heavy load.
