my 98 dakota sport idles at 1500 rpm's several mechanics have told me "there's no way to adjust the idle. is that true??
if there is a way to "idle - down" the rpm's, is this something i can do???
i can go dn a level road at 50 mph without my foot on the gas.
have to shut it off when at the bankdrive thru cause its idleing so fast and loud !!!
it's a v-6 automatic..........tks, mike
It's hard to diagnose the problem exactly however I have heard of this issue being related to the Throttle Position Sensor(TPS) you could also try disconnecting the battery for 15mins then reconnecting then allow the truck to idle for 5 mins this may "reset" your Engine Control Module. If neither of these are an issue you may want to look into the Idle Air Control Valve (IAC). Here is a link I found describing the way to modify your idle speed however this may not be your issue. http://www.bionicdodge.com/Download/Adjusting%20the%20idle%20fo r%20a%20Magnum.pdf
