No dealer is honest and buying a used vehicle is always a gamble! Sometimes you get a winner, other times not so much! My experience has been the smaller the dealer the bigger the gamble. Vehicles on their lots almost always come from an auction. Vehicles wind up at the auction for a reason. They're traded in at new car dealers and are too old, have too many miles on them, are in overall poor condition, or have a jaded past such as an accident or two, recovered theft, etc. These vehicles aren't good enough for the new car dealer to resell them so they go to the auction. A smaller used car dealer buys a lot of say ten vehicles for a price at the auction. He doesn't know anything about the vehicles. He cleans them up really good and, if you're lucky, checks the major components like the engine, transmission, brakes, and steering for proper operation and safety. They may even make some minor repairs to the vehicle. Then the vehicle is put on the lot for sale. Then someone like you comes along and sees a clean, shiny, good looking vehicle for sale. That's when you do your homework and get a vehicle history report, test drive the vehicle, and possibly have your mechanic check it out or have a professional inspection company look it over. You need to do these things to make sure you're getting a good vehicle. Hope that helps! Jim
