1998 Dodge Dakota Sport 4×4 5.2L, shifts fine, a little hard sometimes, execept when low on gas or I floor it.
When its low on gas it won't shift from
1st to 2nd, when I floor it to pass or
just go faster it redlines and starts to
spit. I release the peddle then it
catches. The only codes I'm getting
are for the CPM and rear speed
sensor, no light except brake and
ABS. Rear speed sensor is for my ABS
correct ? I'm not looking forward to
the $ for my CPM, can there be a
cheaper fix ? Like maybe a sensor or
solenoid, seen videos via YouTube
were people have replaced the CPM
and similar issues still occurred. Then
they had a Engine light they couldn't
get rid of. Please, any advice helps.
am not sure why the low fuel would cause any of that. I did recently replace a governor solenoid in the trans of a 2000 Dodge PU because the only way it would shift was if you let up on the throttle. a new one is near $200 but you might find one in a salvage yard for 20. Have someone else look at it and see what they think also.
