can i take a 4.0 from a 1995 ranger & put in a 2004 ranger it has a bad 4.0 in it

Different engines to many changes to make it practical of the time and expense. The '95 had the very good 4.0V in '04 the engine changed to a SOHC 4.0 V6 not so liked. Check the Ford Ranger forums.
