I have had a 3 series BMW and the C series Benz. Both are excellent cars. Both have great performance and gas mileage and generally top quality of construction. The difference are the Benz will tend to ride a little softer then the BMW. What may be a tipping factor for some is that the BMW is "completely cost free" for the first 4 years. Even windshield wipers are covered. The Benz, however is "nothing is free" except warranty repairs. After that it is just styling preference and your price negotiating skills.
