1999 intrepid 3.2 hot engine after a few miles

Asked by Jul 30, 2013 at 09:53 AM about the 1999 Dodge Intrepid 4 Dr STD Sedan

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

Oil light is on even after oil change. Only come on when the car is too hot. Too hot is a bit
about the 1/4 close to C mark. Engine sounds perfect upon start. Once it gets to that
level, the engine almost knocks, like a lifter...but not a sound when cool.

I read your last question which is the same as this and you said your mechanic told you it needed a new oil pump.

Back yard mechanic. He did no diag on it, just said oil pump. Doesn't make sense.
